BIOGRAFÍA

El pintor Cubano-Americano, José Pascual Hijuelos nació y se crió en el Upper West Side de Manhattan, Nueva York.  Después de cumplir cuatro años de servicio militar en Inglaterra, regresó a Nueva York y se graduó con la maestría de bellas artes de pintura.  Estudió con Philip Pearlstein, Lucas Samaras, Jimmy Ernst, Lee Bontecou, Alan D’Arcangelo, y pasó unos años como asistente de Al Held.Un pintor del estilo abstracto, el Señor Hijuelos se alimentó en la  pintura abstracta de la posguerra Americana, y fue influenciado por los notables Mark Rothko, Clyfford Still, Ben Nicholson y Al Held.  El señor Hijuelos ha viajado extensivamente.  Por muchos años, trabajó  como supervisor de arqueología e ilustrador en Bulgaria, Grecia, y Chipre. Ahora divide su tiempo entre San Miguel de Allende, México y New York

BIOGRAPHY

Cuban-American José Pascual Hijuelos was born and raised on the Upper West Side of New York City.  After serving four years of military service in England,, he returned home and went on to complete an MFA in Painting.  He studied with Philip Pearlstein, Lucas Samaras, Jimmy Ernst, Lee Bontecou and Alan D'Arcangelo, and was the assistant to Al Held for several years an abstract painter,  Mr. Hijuelos was nurtured on Postwar American Abstract Painting, influenced by such notables as Mark Rothko, Clyfford Still, Ben Nicholson and Al Held. Mr. Hijuelos has traveled extensively.  For many years, he worked as an archaeological site supervisor and illustrator in Bulgaria, Greece and Cyprus.  He now divides his time between San Miguel de Allende, Mexico and New York.
